Getting started

Sheet Analyst, from install to first result.

This guide covers the standard installation flow and the safest way to use the toolkit.

Installation

  1. 1

    Install

Open the Marketplace listing and choose Install. Review the two requested permissions, then approve them.

  2. 2

    Open a spreadsheet

Refresh Google Sheets after installation. The Sheet Analyst menu appears under Extensions.

  3. 3

    Start the workspace

Choose Extensions → Sheet Analyst → Open Sheet Analyst for the full workspace, or Open Docked Sidebar for a compact view.

  4. 4

    Select your data

Select the relevant cells in the sheet, open a tool, then use the capture button beside a range field.

  5. 5

    Review before running

Check the selected range and output destination. Destructive actions display a confirmation first.

Install Sheet Analyst

Why Sheet Analyst asks for permissions

The beta requests access only to the spreadsheet currently open and permission to display its interface inside Google Sheets. It does not request access to all files in Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar or contacts.

spreadsheets.currentonly

Read and update only the spreadsheet where you use the add-on.

script.container.ui

Add the Sheet Analyst menu, dialog and sidebar to Google Sheets.

Create a first result safely

Start with a copy of an important workbook. Choose a small range, run Descriptive Statistics, and keep the default output option that creates a new result sheet. Confirm that the result matches the source data before moving to editing or workbook-management tools.

Get help

Include the Sheet Analyst version, browser, feature name, expected result and actual result. Never email confidential spreadsheet data. Use a sanitized sample if an example is necessary.
